“When you set out on your journey to Ithaka, pray that the road is long, full of adventure, full of knowledge.” Thus begins the poem Ithaka, by Konstantinos Kavafis.
I’ll never forget my first journey to to Ithaca. I was 16 going on 17, and my mom courageously allowed me to drive. I was an aspiring ivy league-er, excited to check out Cornell University. As we traveled south from the thruway we were caught off guard by the enchanting beauty of Cayuga Lake and the bucolic countryside. We visited wineries, antique shops and fruit stands. It was one of the most beautiful days of my life. That was over 25 years ago. Since that day I have hiked, run, sailed, skied, swam and bicycled my way all around the Finger lakes region. I still love it here!
My passion for real estate began to evolve while I was a student. Every month I wrote out my rent check, I wanted to be a landlord. Every time I saw a house suspended on the edge of a gorge I wanted to see what it looked like inside. If there was an open house at a mansion in Cayuga Heights, I would stop in for a look. Later, I was fortunate enough to purchase and sell several properties of my own, and finally I made my passion my profession.
